Volunteer
Every year, hundreds of competent, enthusiastic and hardworking volunteers play a crucial part in making sure SPOT runs professionally and smoothly. As a volunteer, you help create a great atmosphere throughout the festival, as well as being SPOT’s direct contact with guests, musicians, suppliers, and other volunteers.
At SPOT Festival volunteers work one day (the exact length of your shift depends on what responsibilities you are assigned) and have the rest of the festival off to enjoy the music and experience everything SPOT has to offer.
As a volunteer, you’ll be a part of a committed and indispensable collective that gets things going and helps put a spotlight on Danish and Nordic music both domestically and abroad. Additionally, you’ll receive a full ticket to SPOT as well as food and drink during your shift.
On this page, you can learn more about the different types of work offered to volunteers at this year’s festival. Our volunteering is divided into four categories: practical, technical, social, and service-minded. So there’s guaranteed to be something for everyone.
Many of our volunteers return year after year but we can always use more, so be sure to sign up if you want to be a part of SPOT 2022.
Volunteer positions at SPOT 2022
This year, the different volunteer positions are divided into four categories, so you can decide what position best suits your skills and interests. The specific roles and tasks are listed under each category, and we always strive to fulfill everyone’s wishes.
And don’t forget to wear sensible clothes and shoes for your volunteer shift. Save your fire outfit and dancing shoes for later!
Readying the festival grounds, setting up fences, building stages, building whatever else needs building, clearing the festival grounds after SPOT, sweeping at night, sweeping in the daytime, stand-by
Do you love working with your hands and are you prepared to really dig in to get the job done? Then the practical group is just your thing. Your shifts can be just about anywhere throughout the festival and you’ll be responsible for making sure everything is set up and ready to go before, during and after the festival. Many of the shifts in this group take place before and after the music starts, so if you want to be certain that your shift doesn’t collide with the concerts, this is the group for you.
Stagehand, building stages, fire-safety, stand-by
Do you have a knowledge and understanding of the technical side of festivals? Then we need you in the technical group. Both before and during SPOT, we need volunteers with technical skills and a cool head to work as stagehands, fire-safety people, and stage-builders. You’ll help set up everything technical before the festival and make sure everything runs smoothly backstage when the music’s playing.
Decorating the festival-grounds, volunteer lounge, ad hoc assignments, stand-by
Do you love creating a nice space for others and do you have creative flair? Then sign up for the social group. Here you’ll decorate the different areas of the festival, make sure your fellow volunteers are having a good time when they’re off shift, or generally be a jack-of-all-trades and be ready to step in where you’re needed. If you see opportunities in the different spaces that SPOT offers, then this is the group for you.
Ticketing and check-in, artist catering, volunteer-pamperer, bar shift, kitchen shift, stand-by
Are you service-minded to your core, and are you ready to make sure guests, musicians and your fellow volunteers have everything they need? Then this group’s for you. With a bit of good service and a smile, your job is to make sure everything runs smoothly during SPOT 2022. Amongst other things, you’ll exchange tickets for wristbands, check-in musicians to accreditation, or help keep other volunteers fed and happy throughout their shifts.
NB: Do you have specific experience with IT, bar-service, or something else relevant to volunteering at SPOT? Then be sure to mention it in your volunteer application, and we’ll make certain that your skills are put to use in the best way possible. And if you have experience in more than one field, you’re more than welcome to tick several boxes.
